To leverage the advantages of direct teaching, which allows robots to be taught intuitively in a short period of time, we developed new teaching and programming systems specifically for the COBOTTA PRO in an effort to combine basic functionality with ease of use. By taking advantage of the extensive functionality provided by these systems, users can extend the teaching process to include even fine adjustments that would be difficult to make with the conventional approach to direct teaching. We make automation simple with a teaching system that allows elaborate instruction in a short period of time and an easy-to-use programming system that lets even first-time robot programmers automate not only simple tasks, but also processes that exhibit some degree of complexity.
The system provides a wealth of basic functionality that’s useful during direct teaching, including movements with locked orientation and switching between light and heavy control feel settings. By combining functions based on the application at hand, you can quickly create accurate positions and orientations, even for fine-grained positioning work that in the past would have required use of a teaching pendant or computer.
The functions assigned to general-purpose buttons can be customized to realize an easy-to-use layout. This capability helps facilitate teaching in a short period of time by letting you open and close the hand or easily switch to a previously configured operation feel setting without taking your hands off the robot.
The inching function enables precise teaching on the order of 0.1 mm by letting you move the arm by the specified unit of distance. Since you can perform fine adjustments using direct teaching alone, you can realize intuitive teaching for elaborate tasks like mating and insertion of parts.
By utilizing basic functionality along with the arm buttons and optional functions, you can realize teaching that includes precise positioning without the need to go back and forth between a teaching pendant and arm operations. In addition, you can use easy block programming to create a multi-step program that extends from removing a workpiece to reinserting it, all without taking your hand off the arm. These capabilities help you quickly automate processes in a simple, intuitive manner without sacrificing continuity.
The plane alignment function automatically moves in the vertical direction relative to a plane configured in advance by three-point teaching. It simplifies the process of setting up diagonal vertical movements, helping make teaching part insertion and assembly tasks less labor- and time-intensive.
The COBOTTA PRO’s easy-to-use programming system uses blocks. With this approach, building programs is like solving a puzzle. There’s no need to learn language-basic programming methods, and you can avoid programming errors caused by text entry mistakes. Thanks to the ability to set detailed values on a property screen, the approach can also accommodate complex processes.
You only need to connect blocks from a library. Since the system doesn’t let you link blocks with theoretically impossible operations, you can avoid syntax errors. This approach helps reduce man-hours that would otherwise be spent on correcting errors and fine-tuning code.
Original icons make it easy to visually identify operations, ensuring the system can be learned quickly. Even beginners can create programs in a short period of time.
