DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED (Headquarters: Agui-cho, Chita-gun, Aichi, President: Mitsuhiko Masegi) will release its new bar code handy scanner AT20B series on August 31, 2011. The suggested retail price is open. The company has a plan to sell a total of approximately 30,000 units per year in Japan and abroad.

This new bar code scanner series has a gun-type body, lightest in the class, integrating leading-edge reading software. The product is intended to be used in various fields, including distribution, healthcare and manufacturing. This product will help improve business efficiency, used for sales management by connecting it to a store POS system in the distribution field, for drug medicine management and medication administration in the healthcare field, and for manufacturing process management and tooling change in the manufacturing field, for example.

Its reading capability, in particular, has significantly been improved. The product has achieved industry-leading levels of high-speed scanning performance, integrating the advanced scanning system into a new compact scanning engine with a small high-pixel CCD line sensor. The reading capability for wide bar codes, which are printed on utility payment slips, medical material labels, etc., and the reading depth capability for longer distance scanning, have been also improved, enabling an easy and quick scan of a bar code label remote from the scanner. The product can also scan the GS1 DataBar (RSS)*1, which is used mainly in the medical industry. Furthermore, it is highly capable of scanning poor printed barcode labels with patches, stains, etc.

Its compact, stylish body covered with shock-absorbing rubber is highly durable, with a drop impact resistance of 1.8 meters, highest level in its class and an IP code rating of IP42. The series is available in two colors: the white model (AT20B-SM) and the black model (AT21B-SM), enabling you to choose one according to the design of POS registers, etc. connected to the scanner.

1. Excellent reading capability

With the advanced scanning system integrated, this product has achieved a high-speed reading performance, which has nearly doubled compared to the existing scanners. With its reading depth as well as its reading capability for wide and poor printed bar code labels improved, the product can read target bar code labels at once.

2. Compact body

The product has a roundish, compact and easy-to-hold light body weighing just 105 grams, which helps decrease fatigue due to long operation. It is available in two colors: white and black, enabling you to choose one according to the intended use.

3. Readable LED marker

We have successfully narrowed the LED marker, which indicates the reading area, which enables easy scan of small medicine bottle labels or bent labels to improve the efficiency of scanning work.

4. Excellent environment resistance

Achieved a practical drop impact resistance onto concrete of 1.8 meters, and an IP code rating of IP42.

5. Various functions

Various functions available include: the bar code comparison function to judge whether the scanned bar code is correspond to the registered master bar code, the auto-sensing function where scanning starts automatically when a label is detected, and the software trigger function to enable/disable scanning by the command from the host system.
